COVID-19 Dashboard Update with Encouraging Trends Confirmed Yet Again
Dear Radford Family:
With robust planning, response, and reporting regarding the COVID-19 global health pandemic, Radford University has consistently and thoughtfully engaged in accountability and transparency. To continue that important work, today, I am pleased to share the latest update and seventh installment to the COVID-19 University Dashboard, which is now available.
This past week marked two new confirmed cases from a total of 271 campus-based tests, representing a weekly positivity rate of 0.74 percent. The third mandatory testing for individuals participating in clinicals, specifically students and faculty through Carilion Clinic, included 149 administered tests with zero positive results.
And, as shared in last week’s update, the Student Health Center is administering fewer campus-based tests and confirming fewer positive results for symptomatic students and close contacts, which is a reflection of the overall improved health of our student body. Additionally, weekend hours offered in the Student Health Center are being suspended due to significant utilization declines in recent weeks.
Once again, our compliance and enforcement activities are proving to be successful. Please remain committed to following Commonwealth of Virginia requirements, Radford University expectations, and public health guidance as we officially enter the second half of the Fall 2020 semester!
With Highlander Pride,
Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D.
