Academics
The Geospatial Science program provides specialized course work for students who seek training in geographic information systems (GIS), geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), remote sensing, digital/web cartography, data analytics/visualization, environmental sciences, geography, and for students seeking a solid geospatial science background in preparation for careers in geoinformatics or environmental planning and management.
The department offers programs leading to:
- Minor in GIS, Remote Sensing and Data Analytics/Visualization
- Minor in Environmental Studies
- Minor in Geospatial Science
- Certificate in Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT)
- Certificate in Sustainability
These programs are focused on technical and physical geography, GIS, remote sensing, spatial analysis methods, land use, and natural resources management issues.
Starting in Fall 2021, the university will launch a major revision to general education (GenEd), called REAL. It is in an innovative and student-centered curriculum that focuses on building credentials through outstanding academic experiences within majors, minors, and certificates.
