The Impact of the Student Experience

How students transition to and connect with the campus makes a difference in their experiences. Staff in Student Affairs support students from orientation, to move-in, through graduation and all points in between through a vast array of programs and services. Engagement in clubs and organizations, participation in civic engagement and utilizing available services and resources allows students the opportunity to start to build a resume and develop leadership skills that will transfer across and beyond the academic experience. Student Affairs celebrates student success across the academic journey through signature programs such as First Generation Luncheon, Halfway There Celebration, Junior Twilight and Senior Signing Day.

How you can help

Your support for campus offices that shape the student experience at Radford propels us forward and motivates students to continue on the path towards graduation. Annual support for these areas allow Student Affairs professionals to meet the diverse needs of our student body.  From high-impact programs and excellent leadership training to support for students at risk and beyond, Student Affairs is poised to provide a transformative student experience to our Highlander family. Your gifts in support of the following initiatives can make a difference for all Radford University students:

Student Engagement and Success Fund (Student Affairs Fund)

Student Engagement and Success supports student learning and development, resilience, retention and graduation; provides a diverse and distinctive Radford University student experience; provides safe, accessible and inviting student-focused facilities, services and programs that enhance student life; and provides enhanced resources for student academic and emotional support.

Highlander Assistance Program

HEHROS supports Radford University students who are homeless, at risk for becoming homeless or in transition while on campus. HEHROS aims to mitigate the challenges Radford students face, enhance quality of life by connecting them with available resources and empower them to succeed.

Diversity Enhancement

Through a variety of diversity initiatives, Radford students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for people from all backgrounds. DSA fosters an inclusive and welcoming campus environment; provides social and educational experiences for students, faculty and staff that enhance cultural experiences and encourage greater global citizenry; and helps the campus community be actively engaged with an awareness and appreciation for multiculturalism and the multifaceted aspects of identity that each person on campus brings to the table.

Highlander Family Fund

The Highlander Family Fund supports student activities and programs for many different interests, such as funding for student emergencies and transportation needs during University breaks, exceptional living-learning communities, bringing speakers to campus that enhance classroom learning and cultural opportunities that expand students’ perspectives.

Substance Abuse and Violence Education Support services (SAVES)

SAVES is dedicated to reducing negative consequences related to substance abuse and/or violence through campus-wide initiatives that address these issues and promote student success.
