Radford's Computer Science and Information Systems Concentrations are accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commision of ABET, www.abet.org. Such accreditation is based of the evaluation of the school's faculty, curriculum, computing resources, students and institutional support
Student Outcomes
The program enables students to achieve, by the time of graduation:
For all programs:
- Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
- Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
- Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
- Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
- Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
For the Computer Science and Technology Degree (CS concentration):
- Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
For the Information Science and Systems degree:
- Support the delivery, use, and management of information systems within an information systems environment.
For the Cybersecurity degree:
- Apply security principles and practices to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats.
Program Educational Objectives (All programs)
Within three to five years of graduation, alumni of the program are expected to:
- Obtain positions where they analyze, design, develop, maintain, test, manage, secure, or support real world computing systems.
- Be valued employees as demonstrated by advancement in responsibility, position, or compensation, either within their company or at another firm.
- Gain admission to graduate programs and complete advanced degrees, for those who wish to pursue graduate education.
- Adapt and learn in response to advances in Information Technology.
