COVID-19 Dashboard Update with Encouraging Trends Evident
Dear Radford Family:
I encourage each and every student, faculty, and staff member to regularly visit the Campus Reopening webpage to review detailed materials and informational updates about our COVID-19 planning and response efforts, including the latest data on the COVID-19 University Dashboard. The weekly update, which is now available, represents our continued commitment to actively engage in both accountability and transparency with regard to our on-going efforts.
Last week, public health experts advised that our campus plateaued in terms of COVID-19 cases and should expect to see a decline. This week’s update clearly demonstrates that we have successfully slowed the spread of COVID-19 on our campus with a 67.18% decrease in new positive cases when comparing 195 from the prior update to 64 in this new update. Without question, our compliance and enforcement activities are proving to be successful.
I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to our talented students, world-class faculty, and dedicated staff for their diligent efforts in wearing face coverings, exercising physical distancing, and washing hands frequently. Most importantly, I ask that you continue this great work of complying with Commonwealth of Virginia requirements, Radford University expectations, and public health guidance as we continue the Fall 2020 semester. If, for one moment, we slow down on our efforts to remain steadfast in our compliance, we may risk all of the recent progress that has been made. We cannot allow that to happen on our campus!
With Highlander Pride,
Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D.
