COVID-19 Dashboard Update Shows Significant Decline in Positive Cases for Second Consecutive Week
Dear Radford Family:
Radford University is pleased to share the latest installment and eleventh update to the COVID-19 University Dashboard, which is now available to the campus and the community. This update is reflective of the University’s on-going commitment to transparency regarding all facets of our planning, response, and reporting efforts.
Following a slight uptick in cases, the University has, once again, successfully slowed the spread of COVID-19 with two consecutive weeks of declining cases! This past week marked 327 campus-based administered tests with 14 positive results, representing a positivity rate of 4.28 percent. The testing breakdown includes 120 tests and 13 positives through the Student Health Center, as well as 207 tests and one positive through the latest surveillance testing opportunity. Of the 207 Highlanders that participated in last Friday’s main campus surveillance testing, 153 were faculty and staff, and 54 were students. The most recent surveillance testing represents a positivity rate of 0.48 percent, which is significantly below that of our region and our state.
With two weeks of classes remaining followed by finals week, the University has worked collaboratively and diligently throughout the Fall 2020 semester to provide a safe learning, living, and working environment for all Highlanders. And, during the week of finals, we will provide exit testing on the main campus and at Radford University Carilion for students, faculty, and staff. As we near the end of one semester and look forward to another, the University is asking all students, faculty, and staff to remain committed to staying healthy and safe by wearing a mask, maintaining physical distancing, and practicing good hygiene!
With Highlander Pride,
Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D.
