COVID-19 Spring 2022 Update
Dear Highlander Family,
Thank you for your immeasurable efforts over the last two years as we have navigated the risks brought about by COVID-19. Because of your attention to wellness and the safety measures implemented here and across the Commonwealth, we have been able to ease restrictions, making masks optional and offering tests and vaccinations as needed.
As we have reached the end of a successful Spring semester, I wanted provide information regarding our future efforts. In accordance with CDC guidance, indoor masking remains optional. While masking is no longer required on public transportation (i.e. Radford Transit) it does remain a requirement to access clinical locations such as Student Health Services.
The last update to the Spring 2022 COVID-19 dashboard will be made on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Moving forward, COVID-19 testing will be available to students through Student Health Services located in Moffett Hall and the Nurse Navigator for Radford University Carilion. Employees unable to locate COVID-19 testing may contact Human Resources. The Virginia Department of Health also provides resources for COVID-19 testing. The testing center at Young Hall and RUC ceased testing operations on May 6, 2022.
Vaccines remain the best defense to prevent severe illness. The Virginia Department of Health offers free COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters. We strive to offer ongoing education and support to students if confirmed positive for COVID-19 as they navigate living arrangements and their recovery. Students with questions or needing assistance should contact the Office of the Dean of Students. Employees seeking guidance and resources can contact the Department of Human Resources.
As we continue moving into the endemic phase of the pandemic, the COVID-19 Working Group will remain in close contact with the New River Health District of the Virginia Department of Health, monitor new variants and seek guidance from the CDC, Commonwealth of Virginia and other agencies. We will continue to monitor our community and adjust health and safety measures accordingly.
Our greatest hope is that we continue moving forward and defining how our new ways to engage, learn and build community will develop.
Thank you, and GO HIGHLANDERS!
