Message to Main Campus Resident Students from Director of Housing and Residential Life Anthony White, Ph.D.

Monitoring the Coronavirus Radford University

Dear Residents,

Hopefully, you have had the opportunity to read the email from President Hemphill that was sent earlier today to all students, faculty, and staff regarding Radford University’s modification of campus operations due to COVID-19 and as a measure to support the health, well-being, and safety of the Radford family. I know this is a time in which many of you have a multitude of questions regarding the campus, its operations, and access to your room.

As stated in the President’s email, Spring Break is being extended another week from March 16-20, 2020. Beginning on Monday, March 23, 2020, all classes will be in an online format. As faculty develop alternate options for course delivery, they are being asked to consider that students may not have textbooks with them.

From March 16, 2020 through April 17, 2020, all students have been strongly encouraged to return to and/or remain at their permanent residence. On-campus residence halls and off-campus apartments will remain closed.

International students and other students with permanent legal residence in University-operated housing, please contact the Office of Housing and Residential Life to receive assistance in securing living arrangements during this time. This also applies to other students, who do not have access to any other housing options.

Residents, who have essential needs to retrieve belongings from their room or apartment, such as prescription medication, may contact the Office of Housing and Residential Life to request access. These requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and when appropriate, access to retrieve items will be arranged and scheduled with Housing and Residential Life staff members.

If you have any questions, we can be reached by phone at 540-831-5375 during our office hours from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday. We are anticipating a high volume of calls and will have additional staff members answering the phones. Please leave a message if you are not able to connect with a staff member initially, and we will get back to you as soon as we are able to.

These actions taken by the University are out of an abundance of caution for the campus and the community. Your health, well-being, and safety are paramount and are at the center of any and all action being taken by the University.

Sincerely,

Anthony White, Ph.D.
Director of Housing and Residential Life
