Message to RUC Students, Faculty, and Staff from Director of Academic Support Services Al Overstreet, M.Ed.

Monitoring the Coronavirus Radford University

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:

Pursuant to Radford University’s modification of campus operations and for health and safety reasons, the Radford University Carilion (RUC) Educational Testing Center, located in Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital, 5th Floor, Room 509, will be closed for in-person proctoring services, as well the 24-hour computer lab, through April 17, 2020. Arrangements are being made for alternative methods of testing, and access to online study materials are on-going. At this time, faculty are assessing needs for their students and programs. Students will receive communication directly from their programs and/or faculty regarding these changes.

Please be assured that Academic Support Services will continue to provide subject peer tutoring, Pathways to Academic Student Success, or PASS, and writing help with students in the following formats: face-to-face appointments using Zoom (requires high-speed internet, webcam, and microphone/speakers); phone appointments using Zoom (requires a long-distance telephone call); email appointments (requires internet access); and NetTutor Live and Drop-off Services (requires high-speed internet, webcam, and microphone/speakers with availability 24/7). Faculty are encouraged to continue utilizing Starfish when referring students for help.

We appreciate your patience and flexibility. Please let Academic Support Services know if we can answer any questions or help you in any other way.

Sincerely,

Al Overstreet, M.Ed.
