This month, Highlanders in the News include Associate Professor of Biology Matt Close talking turtles; Bill Kovarik, professor of communication, weighing in on the destructive legacy of a once-celebrated inventor; and accounting professor Robert Warren offering thoughts on a criminal case involving $40,000 allegedly diverted to play Candy Crush.

In a decision approved by the Radford University Board of Visitors, the university has announced a tuition rebate for undergraduate in-state students for the 2024-2025 academic year, effectively reversing the 1.5% tuition increase approved earlier this year. 

The GO Virginia State Board announced that it is awarding a $202,872 grant to support a Radford University initiative aimed toward growing the regional economy though IT and cybersecurity education programs.

Between double-majoring in accounting and finance, serving in the Army National Guard, his volunteer work and his multiple internships, the recent graduate stayed on the move during his first four years at Radford.

High schoolers from around the region have attended growth opportunities at Radford’s Venture Lab, participating in business-related workshops on such subjects as time management, conflict resolution, career success and starting their own enterprises.
